Bolotix Looks At The New Flat-Rate State Pension

Bolotix believes that by 2015-16 Britain's new flat-rate state pension will be £155 pounds per person or £310 pounds per couple. Bolotix also believes that those who are already claiming a state pension at the moment are not going to receive this new simplified flat-rate scheme. This means that half of Britain's pensioners who are living in absolute poverty will still have to claim all the necessary low income benefits that are available in order to make ends meet. One frightening statistic that came out is that only a third of private sector employers now offer any sort of pension at all, that fueled with an ever ageing population is a recipe for disaster. In short we have to save for our retirement's, that is of course if you are lucky enough to have enough disposable income left at the end of the week to actually put some aside. Bolotix also wonders if you were lucky enough to have spare income for saving where is the best place to put it? Answers on a post card please.

  1. As one of the current pensioners I can state that the only way we are managing is by my husband working part-time. This is shortly to finish and how we will manage after that God only knows because we don't.

Both of us have worked all our lives, never claimed a penny off the state and yet people can come into this country and get handouts the like of which we can only dream of - are we bitter? You bet your sweet life we are!
