It was a sad article I read today on Holocaust remembrance day that Auschwitz is in a very poor state of repair and is struggling to raise the funds to keep this vital lesson in history in good condition. As a centre of historic importance it has to be preserved as a reminder and proof of the terrible events that happened there, it is also a monument to the 1.1 million people who were brutally murdered there. I made the trip there my self in 2007, a very emotional experience that will live with me forever. I am glad I went, it is an eerie silent horrible place and at times you physically can not comprehend where you are standing. As a monument it has to exist, it must exist. They now have a Facebook page which they are using as a platform for both remembrance and fund raising purposes. I am putting the link for the Facebook page here.
